A sad day today. Kentucky Derby Day. I did wear my hat for breakfast……in the kitchen.
Always that anticipation leading up to 5:30 PM….”MY OLD KENTUCKY HOME”, the song for today…..all the traditions every bit as important as those exciting 2 minutes….mint juleps…..
The Woodford Reserve is waiting on the counter….little water, tsp of powdered sugar, stirred…..crushed ice, wipe mint leaf on inside of glass and drop in….add the Kentucky bourbon…. more crushed ice, a sprig of mint.
We will toast to our memories at 5:30, then I’ll put the hat away for another year and start supper.
