Traveling 2 days to Florida was an eyeopener!. We are used to bringing our own bedroom and kitchen in our RV, but we opted to take our truck. Everything as we knew it, changed because of the covid. The struggle has been real. Poverty abounds. Businesses have shut down….food prices, I cannot say how devastating! Motels unfit for human habitation.
We discovered breakfast always cost the two of us, $25. Lunch $35 and supper never below $50…that all in a day. Add in $75 for a hotel with filthy floors and stained bedspreads, oh my! When we got to 2toos and Bobby’s home, we thought we’d save at the Publix Grocery Store. Wrong. Meat Market $10 bacon? $50 ribs? What has happened to our nation? How good we have it in Missouri, or is it because we know exactly where to go for the best prices, or is it that at home we ONLY buy sale items that week? It seems like every 3 or 4 weeks bacon is on sale for $2.99….so we buy 4 packages and freeze.
Of course the best eatin’ was at their home, affordable, and plenty of it. Now we both are starving ourselves to lose those delicious pounds.
Then came the trip home this time 3 days. Same scenario EXCEPT….there are some businesses that stand out amongst others! ! ! Laurel Mississippi, was McDonald’s at 1602 Hwy 15. I have never been in such a spotless, shiny CLEAN…good smelling fast food restaurant as this one! And the help was joyful. I applaud them….Awesome!
Kudos to Regency Inn Bald Knob, Arkansas. The lady behind the counter was precious! The room @ $71 was OUTSTANDING! SMELLED SO GOOD. I was not afraid to walk barefoot. I can’t even remember such a fine room in years! ! ! ! It was plum lovely. Definitely a 5*****.
On Hwy 67 just before getting off at 167 into Bald Knob we saw a huge billboard that advertised FARMHOUSE CAFE. That was going to be our 6 AM destination. OMG! What a treat! Breakfast as delicious as what we cook at home. Happy, laughing owner! ! ! We actually paid $18 and they apologized for raising prices. Boy, did we fill her in! What a fabulous gem of a place. And the rooms went on and on……..
Right before crossing the line into Missouri, we stopped at the Arkansas Visitor’s Center for restrooms. I made it a point to tell them of the Regency Inn and the Farmhouse Cafe to brag how nice a time in their state.
Back home now and grocery shopping. Folgers coffee $10.79? Nope, not the week to buy that BUT Campbell’s Cream of mushroom and cream of chicken soups @ .99! Sale prices are where it’s at.
