I am not normal. I do things differently then others. My New Year starts Tuesday after Labor Day. Listen, when you have 5 children, you live for that 1st day of school. Now I have grandchildren who have teenagers and I still celebrate New Year’s on Tuesday after Labor Day! FREEDOM! ! ! No one asking questions!
But Fall has arrived, beginning of my Happy Time. I have this pumpkin collection, we’re talking metal, wood slat, different…eclectic. Unfortunately life gets complicated as “it has to look different this year!” It’s not enough to set things out, they have to be set out differently, as perhaps I added an item or three to the bunch!
So last year I bought a gallon of a cashmere color paint for the fireplace. It seems like an overwhelming job, so I have the paint aging in the garage. OK, this year I’m serious. But I looked on Pinterest, so now I will paint it the color of the walls, burlap, to make that dining room look larger…well, I’ll do that in a few days.
Now it gets complicated because I want the color to flow from room to room, in my mind… properly, as I’m already planning ahead for the JOLLY HOLLY time of the year…that’s my happy place. Rest assured, the presents are wrapped and even Russ added to his outdoor light collection this past weekend. So you know, for me, it’s all about getting the house ready…DONE… and enjoy the holidays with our children and friends. It takes a gallon of paint and a paintbrush to jump start this 3 month procedure.
And we have a Holly in our family, in Florida, supposedly moving from Port St. Lucie over to West Palm Beach this weekend. Oh Lord God, keep my cousin safe in your arms, safe from any harm from Hurricane Ian, keep my cousin Rick and Beth’s home safe in the Ft. Myer’s area, keep Deidra and family safe in the Tampa area, Lord, Lord pour out your mercies on Florida, we ask in the Name of Jesus!”
Thank you Lord for the wonderful recovery of our friend, Jim Petree, almost back to normal from his multiple strokes. Good grief, his normal is scary!
