I am my mother’s daughter. Every season 4 times a year she would rearrange the rooms. I have faithfully duplicated that all my life. And then when I was a teen, someone invented the 1st garage sale…yard sale, and I’ve been saling ever since! Now in the late autumn of my life, because of macular degeneration of my eyes, I cannot make out a straight line painting in a corner. So if I’m to change wall colors, I guess I can roll the middle portions and maybe #1daughterconnie could do the edge details! And I can’t lift as much as I could before I could lift more…These situations are never ending so I have to get more creative. That still leaves changing rugs, drapes, bedspreads…knick knax. Add to that garage sales, thrift stores, antique malls AND AMAZON. There is no end to what can be done!
I’ve been feeling my living room has no pop of loud color…no splash. I painted flat black on the legs of the table and clear sprayed the top of the beautiful oak. There are 2 other small cabinets that I will be painting the doors flat black. So yesterday I went to a garage sale and found that picture for $3. Unbelievable! Fits perfect in the guest bedroom. Pictures will be forthcoming as soon as I find one more splash item. I love things that are beyond different. God designed me that way. I am not responsible.
At the same sale is the other treasure…the round pouf made out of an old cheesebox, which I collect, painted FLAT BLACK and being reupholstered…and added the black fringe…by a woman who was older then me and she said her mother in law gave her that cheesebox years ago. TEN DOLLARS. Time to sing my favorite song…There’s no excuse to not have a beautiful home with the beautiful pieces you can find.
Life is good. Yes there’s a lot of negative, but by the Grace of God, I try to focus on the good. I don’t always succeed, but He is there to hear my prayers and give me the delights of my heart as I walk with Him.
Maybe 30 more days of garage sales before the snow flies….just sayin’
