#09…Me, #YardSales……..and God

It’s been a wakeup call to me,  how spoiled I have gotten over time and aging. There comes that moment, that birthday…… when you discover that you have your way all the time. It seems to come naturally. Out of the ugliness of my life, I had cried out to the Lord, I believed by faith, started going to church and learned about Him. Over time He brought me peace and calm and the drama dissipated. Following a devastating divorce after 33 years, I worked longer hours…started building my eBay business 9 years ago and me and God started on this new path. Following my passion for garage sales and thrift stores and flea markets, I was forced to shop constantly to build my inventory. That got so big that I got booths in 2 antique malls. The thrill of the hunt has absolutely become such a passion. During the years of being single, I was posting my items for sale on the internet early in the morning, late at night while working long hours cleaning houses and taking dance lessons.

That became a good life. New friends like my best friend, Thelma, new church, a home I bought on my own in a new city….surrounded by beautiful junk, I have delighted in my life. And it is God who has blessed me! Then one day, Russ called me and asked me out. That was 7 years ago and we are still dancing the early evening away.

The vase, clock @ $1…HEAVY antique mirror $8, Bench was $3 …..the hand painted table $29. There is no excuse not to have your home totally decked out.

Spring is coming and soon the yard sales will be everywhere. And see, this is the situation….I find the most beautiful items…..my house constantly changes amidst all these luxurious things I drag home in the car or back end of the pickup truck (unless I have to ask Russ to hook up to the trailer) …..and I have gotten so used to all this. It is HIS fault as he never stifles me. He is soooooooo good to me, I have just become rotten. Monday he hauled up a dresser I had painted shabby chic to the mall to my booth and drove home with a chandelier for the dining room and a set of high school lockers for the guest bedroom. That is how our life is, I am out of control. And I have trained daughters Connie and Billie Girl to be like this and they are even….well almost, more out of control then me. A paint brush NEVER leaves their hand! Both girls have repainted kitchen cabinets and applied a unique technique that makes their wood countertops look like quartz! This is Connie’s work…….

And in the background coming up is ML, my new daughter in law married to my eldest son, KL. We took a beautiful big OLD window with a snowman painted on it for her Christmas present only to discover that KL had made her a coffee table with a paned window in it and she had another window hanging on the wall. She had more windows hanging then she had to look out thru! I see a great future for her and me.

I have to mention another new daughter in law, Mrs.KL, married to my youngest son DL. They together love garage saling  junk….. she re-does it, paints it beautifully, and they tend to have unique finds. She loves old colanders and they are everywhere displayed atop her kitchen cabinets. There are going to be some serious fun times ahead!

So I’m displaying a picture or two with some lovely finds, however I assure you they have already been moved to another part of the house to make room for THE TREASURE.

Lamp $15 at an antique mall. Dry sink pitcher and basin $8 at a yard sale.

Corn Grinder $28….Red painted metal flower stand $1 at garage sale.

Thank you Lord, I am back online!
