#68…Chaos in the Cactus of my Mind, Part 2….Painting the Desert

Let the work begin….So I have been collecting THINGS at garage sales and antique malls all summer long as the patio waited to be built. Not only for that but also THINGS for my flower plots! Yesterday was a day made in heaven! Sunny and 71 degrees for October 22 was such a gift. A slight breeze…Have been cleaning the garage to make room for the snow plow, so for the moment, it is highly organized…for the moment. Furniture to be whimsically painted over here, Items to be consigned to the Spotted Dog here…….DAV donations here…items for fb Marketplace over there and the mountain of rusty gold piled high atop my worktable!

A perfect day to spray paint ! ! ! I keep all my spray cans in an insulated cooler, top with my paint canvasses, shut the lid and they stay safe in the winter temps. They were spread out everywhere….The patio color palette is that of Apache Junction AZ. How I love that place, but more so Candi and John, Heidi and boys, Steven & wife and cat & dog..ALL the dogs…..and Janice…. and John’s son…..also the cactus, but not the snakes. So the color palette comes from a purchase of house numbers we bought in Old Santa Fe, New Mexico. Burnt orange, some green and a splash of blue.

How could one have a pergola and not a chandelier! This $48 beauty was on Halloween display at Rusty Chandelier, here in Joetown.  Am going to buy some of those flame candles powered by a battery. The $1 garage sale table used to be red, now color coordinated to match. Twenty five cent metal basket sprayed a tan color holds the pine cones my great granddaughter, Bells gathered and I sprayed copper! The very tall black floor candlesticks now match the basket and  now I need to be looking for similar flame candles in…yup…orange green and blue.

Hilcrest Thrift Store in Platte City had the $20 AWESOME table umbrella. We have beautiful burnt orange and green cushions, several painted black metal chairs and recliners which need to be touched up in the spring. Now looking for a round coffee table, guarantee it will be most unusual. Oh my, so many ideas, so looking for that “pop” that will pull it all together. And we’ve already had the first snow!

P.S. The empty pop cans are building in the garage for the Saguaro cactus……..the plans are all in the Cactus of my Mind.
