We have earned the right to celebrate our beloved Kansas City Chiefs as the LIV SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS ! ! ! ! How better then in the decor. So I am in my MOST favorite antique mall, Rusty Chandelier, in St. Joseph Mo. the day after the Super Bowl and I come across this beautiful wreath for $56 on display at the front. The world stopped, I had to have it. The most I could talk Angie down to was $50. Ok, ok….please hold this here, it’s time to shop! Imagine my surprise when I got to that dealers’ booth and found the WHOLE BOOTH 20% off! $40 for the monster wreath! ! !
Continuing on with my open concept kitchenbedroomlivingroomdiningroomoffice, I added the blue/white draperies to set the living room perimeters. NEVER again will I ask hub side kick to put up curtain rods…EVER! We both need anger management counseling……He swore he did them the same space from the ceiling as in the bedroom. Some words cannot be repeated, some things of the mind NEVER said. So he drilled new holes, I painted old holes….and the drapes still splayed at the bottom…..Words cannot describe the static electricity in the air at that moment…why did I ever go out with him on that first date…..why did we have that wedding party………..,why is the ceiling in half the room lower then the ceiling in the other half the room?
The beautiful hemp basket was on clearance at Bed Bath & Beyond for $8. Red pillows in it for a splash of color….the trending thing to fill BIG things with color pillows. The shelves Russ designed with plumbing parts from Lowe’s, cheese boxes collected from garage sales, the tiger oak coffee table from Bela Patina in the West Bottoms of Kansas City, I bought because it was $12….why would such a fine piece, a heavy piece, be only $12? It sat in my garage for a year, not knowing where to put it….I am going to paint the round edge color of the 2020 year, Pantone Blue to match the $65 5X8 rug from Amazon FREE SHIPPING and FREE RETURN. Ok, I had to return the rug I bought the week before because that rug was too light, thus the value of FREE RETURN!
So the little Italian tray $1 from a garage sale, the red scales for $40 bargained down from $60 at Jesse James Antique Mall, the game board I hand painted into a Fast Track game for $20 from Hunterland Antiques…….the other half of an old ladder, the BEAUTIFUL HEAVY throw from Bed Bath & Beyond on clearance $8. Two identical lamps for $21 at the Spotted Dog consignment, the huge clock w/o hands from DAV for $20 bargained down from $40……….the fireplace designed and built by hub sidekick (on a good day)! Not to mention the table scarf, two spray painted picture easels AND green agate clock ALL came from garage sales over the years! ! !
It’s all about The Hunt for The Treasure! It’s all about seeing that wonderful piece that gets your pitter patter racing….it’s all about bargaining for the best price and dragging it home, stashing it and waiting for that next piece…..and all of the sudden the LED light bulb goes off and you have a picture of what you can create….BUT the most important, it’s all about….cooking a pot of your best spaghetti and garlic bread cuz just sometimes you just gotta make that heart wrenching call to that truck drivin’ man of muscle……”HONEY! ! ! ! Please come immediately, BRING the truck…..HONEY! ! ! !
