#227…Books, Magazines Get Me in Trouble…Again

Where do all these projects come from? Why, my beloved magazines…HGTV, BETTER HOMES & GARDENS, GOOD HOUSEKEEPING, WOMAN’S DAY, REAL SIMPLE, COUNTRY HOME and GARDEN GATE. Sometimes 4 issues will come in 1 day. I’m in heaven! But I cannot keep all these magazines, so going thru the pages, there will be nuggets of gold and I will tear out that page and circle something I need to research later. Such was the case with Iris Apfel, a 102 year old business woman, still tending to business. That circled item has been in my “to do” pile next to my computer for 6 months. Amazon delivered the next day. Read it the following day and already circulated to a friend.  Why on earth order such a book? Because I’m always looking to learn how other women cope with life and their ways of doing things that confirm that I am on track with my own ways of doing stuff. This does not take away from my values of my faith in God, but reinforces ME as a woman, a mother, a girl…an ole gray mare…

So I read about the forecasted weather and the magazine…torn out, next to the computer, page for further reference…sez WINTER curtains! What!? Yes, Amazon has “winter” curtains that insulate, are thermal and keep the room heat in. The box has been sitting in the garage a week now. They are completely white, will they work, will I like them? No, it’s not enough for me to just hang the curtains. The room has to come together. I painted the table legs a flat black, found the flat black foot stool at a garage sale for $10, have a magazine holder…$3 I will paint black for my”NEW YORK” books and now have decided to paint the doors of my cabinet…black! The walls are a dark battleship gray, then white curtains and black highlights. So we’ll see what  happens. Oh dear, I just saw in yesterdays’ COUNTRY HOME that all the books in the bookcases are stacked so only the pages show…

The flower plots are almost done. It’s 38 degrees right now with a high of 59, so today I will put away yard decor so not to build a sweat and catch cold. The flood disaster has been cleaned up, the wildflowers sowed, God is on the Throne and life is good. Thank you Lord for all our blessings.
