#106…The Kansas City MO West Bottoms Experience

It’s ALL about THE HUNT for THE TREASURE! So #1daughterconnie and I, take on the insane morning rush hour traffic downtown Kansas City in search of the West Bottoms, #1 rated in the U.S., 1st Friday Antique Malls, namely Bella Patina where we started. Unbelievable the things we saw! ! !  It was almost a perfect experience other then I still have not found a Fast Track Board for 6 that I have been searching for all summer. Never the less, we did fill the back of the car with our treasures.

I have heard about this place for years but never was excited about driving for an hour and a half, but when Cindy posted on my Facebook about THIS weekend being 1st Friday…I had to go…with my daughter/partner in crime, not to be confused with my friend/partner in crime, Marge/Thelma who knows where to hide the….she’s another story….

I’ll have to say this was just not another shopping experience as the surroundings had their own story. The antique mall, VORTEX, had huge speakers outside with the most wonderful LOUD blues music and a place to sit inside with couches and guitars all around to jam…while the shoppers could search for THE TREASURE!

In a couple of the buildings the freight elevators with couches and benches would creep slowly to the 5th floors while we relaxed and enjoyed…and then shopped our way down the floors. The gang art on the OLD buildings was spectacular with vivid colors. Above our heads, the bridge hummed with traffic scurrying about and when 2 fire engines came screaming down amongst our area,  something…don’t know what, caused the train to stop on it’s tracks and traffic piled up unable to cross. Of course that was the time we decided to leave.

We drove back North of the River and took in lunch and 1 more antique mall and 2 thrift stores. OF COURSE….EVERY TIME….I’M SAYING THIS IN CONCRETE……EVERY TIME #1 goes with me…..it’s ALWAYS at the last stop when she buys that BIG PIECE OF FURNITURE!. “I’m confident, Mom, that it will fit, if not, we will get a piece of twine and tie the latch hood  as far down as we can and drive slow. We don’t have far to go.” We spread our OTHER furniture and TREASURES over 2 parking spaces while putting in an OVERSIZE rocking chair…and repacking as we usually have to do.

She broke Russ of ever going with us when the truck was piled high at the Leavenworth Post wide sales and she bought a glass dining set with huge high back heavy chairs at the last stop………
