#145…Pandemic Gardening

It took “Shelter At Home” to catch me all up on my gardening for the 1st time in my life! There is not one weed in my flower plots, unless they grew overnight. This year I planted huge pots with tomatoes, pickling cucumbers, onions, radishes, purple foot long green beans and dill. The perennials are 3 years old and ought to be enormous; the ground cover spreading, the tulips cut back making room for the lilies of the valley! We went crazy with hostas out front, leaving room for the pampas grass to spread. I had to lay hands on one and pray for God to bring it to life as methinks the chainsaw cut it too close to the ground, but really it’s probably because we didn’t plant it deep enough….praying. The Japanese wisteria is blossoming, the Chinese wisteria is pretending it’s dead. But between the pampas and the wisteria, they are all invasive plants and it darn near takes an act of God over 3 years to kill it so in May I’m sure it will come up….

I haven’t canned any veggies in years, but am thinking of putting some tomatoes up, maybe freezing the beans and the rhubarb I planted in some tractor tires. Boy, it’s a different year for sure. Now Joetown is on the verge of opening up and that is scary in itself, especially with the Triump meat packing plant being tested for the corona virus. Tomorrow, the city is deciding if we open up Monday, but based on the 2000 tests being done on the plant, we might be shut down for another month.

As for me and my house, we will Trust in the Lord!

Today I will finish cleaning the garage. We both have almost all projects done! It is unbelievable. Been reading a book a week. I guess I could wash the car…geez, I bet in all the world, the world has never been as clean as it is now.

The hummingbirds have arrived! ! !
