#217…The Button Lady

I went to a friend’s garage sale Friday and came home with several “treasures”! Hub side-kick immediately moved his “new” Christmas outdoor Santa Claus and another TALL plaque into his holiday warehouse. The thrill for him being 1st, there are some major repairs to be done, which he excels in…and 2nd, that when he “decors” for the season, we will be seen from space!

…BUT, there was a treasure for me and that was this lovely rag rug that Mary Smith made. Oh how I loved that lady and oh how she loved her friends. When she with me, she gave me all her attention. It was like she stopped the world to talk to me. I felt so special. An unforgettable person, and that was just one of her traits! Oh the stories she would tell…ah, if Leonard only knew. But we laughed hysterically at her tales though they were true, only Mary could tell them..in her style.

The little button knit thingamajig (it’s my blog my spelling…) was a Christmas gift,  one of many she knitted for our Carnegie Club and each of us girls got to pick the color we wanted. Mine has hung on a drawer knob in my guest bedroom now for years.

So #2toodaughterbillie and I went shopping yesterday at our new Thrift World and I found this BUTTON picture for my whimsical bathroom. I wonderful if she made that picture? Everyone called her The Button Lady. What a joy to have known her and how I miss her.

God has blessed me RICHLY with friends, why?  I guess because I put myself out there and got involved. When I got divorced after 33 years of marriage, I thought no one would ever love ME again. That’s when I learned that scripture, Tears may endure for the night, BUT joy cometh in the morning! God’s grace got me thru my healing time so I could learn my next lessons…If you want love, you must 1st show people that YOU care. If you want friends, YOU must 1st be a friend. My life has completely transformed and it’s all come thru prayer, loving God and reading constantly. It is good to know things, new things and always looking for new ideas and finding things to do…projects.

God is good.
