#130…Retro Kitchen Reveal #1

Hard to believe we finally got this project done and still have a marriage left. Golf season can’t come soon enough!

So basically this is a antique kitchen with only the wine and retro refrigerator actually working.  The wood burning stove was pulled out of a barn in the mountains of Colorado…found by Russ on an elk hunt. The Hoosier cabinet hauled home from a farm sale for $75.  The sewing machine iron base from an antique mall in Cameron Mo for $20. It came with a beautiful marble top but Russ fashioned  a wood board and painted to match the 40’s metal tops on the other cabinets and then polyurethaned it. The retro frig and freezer on sale for $136 (free shipping) online from Home Depot did not look right on the floor.

The baker’s cabinet under the wine cooler was found at St. Joseph Antique mall. It was $125. Recognizing it was at the end of the month, knowing mall rents are due…we offered $70, AND with no counter back, the vendor accepted ! ! ! Now mind you, the cabinet was white, taller on a rotted base, but the hub sidekick redid it to match the other pieces. I wrote in another blog ago… about how rusted the stove was….how totally warped and water damaged the Hoosier was…..and that man ( I cannot mention his name as I am not affectionate of him yet, the marriage hanging by a ragged thread…unraveling) put hundreds of hours into refinishing…painting….having handles re-chromed at St. Joe Harley Davidson…..

The rug came from Amazon Prime, free shipping, free returns…….5X8 for $65 and I did have to buy a carpet pad for $19. It completely pulls the whole room together. I will talk about the curtains in the Bedroom Reveal…#2.

Oh, and the lights! ! !  These are panel LED lights,  thin like a TV, $69 apiece which we bought at Menard’s on a 11% off EVERYTHING sale on our Menard’s credit card with a 2% rebate….so ended up for $60 @. Did I mention the $135 value antique 1897 cast iron pot I found at The Spotted Dog Consignment Store was on a 50% sale for $12?

The Bavarian Pub Table and 4 chairs came from the Ft. Leavenworth Army Base post wide sales for $100 some 9 years ago. VERY heavy! My son in law, Jeff  (#1daughterconnie) has moved it for me a few times and hates it…..wants to come and haul it off to DAV. I’m leaving it to him in my will.

The nightmare started with my famous words…..”HONEY…..do you think “WE” could wallboard brick this one piece of wall?” He thought better that one piece should be two walls…..
