#185…The Joy of Facebook

I am overwhelmed by all the birthday greetings I received through my Facebook family. MOST  humbly, I thank all of you for your kind thoughts, remembrances, silly comments…pictures…etc….etc…etc! It’s wonderful to have the love of friends, to realize that we all struggle through common issues, just the names are changed, but that the same things bind us together with love….God, our country, our precious children and where would we be without our fur babies?

Today I celebrate the birthday of my cuz in law, Charles Harwood, husband of my NEW cousin Shirley , NEW found family discovered through Ancestry.com and opportuned to get to know through Facebook….and her sis, Susan also my NEW cousin. It has been a Hallmark Christmas movie to discover the magic of Christmas in our own personal story. We sang Happy Birthday to our family, to eachother and Charles blew out the candle on top of my favorite pie…….on HIS side of the screen on Facetime…..something wrong with that picture….just sayin’

Happy Birthday also today to my in law sis, Georgia Hutchens, may it be the mostest bestest bday ever! ! !

What opportunity to pray with those sitting in emergency rooms when disaster hurts and a hug is needed. I think back to when Bill Pevlor texted from the hospital that his beloved Sarah had been in a head-on crash. The agony he went thru as he awaited around the clock, the healing of his wife….the LONGGGGGGGG essays he wrote about every thought, the pictures he showed us as she worked her way through getting her life back…the picture of her at home in her rocking chair smiling at the sunset. I prayed, I cried, it was good to reflect on another’s needs, not just always about me. So I cry when my friends go thru their “stuff”.  Maybe I’ve already walked there, but thank you for the opportunity to lift you up to the Lord. I know what it’s like to need an IMMEDIATE hug from God because my world has fallen apart….

The family pictures…gathered, I love that. To see how we are all united together…a common bond. Oh, and the pictures of the Thanksgiving FEASTS! Knowing how people knocked themselves out to duplicate “remembered Grandma’s holiday dishes” to delight the family…and oh the memories of bye gone years! How we laugh over the same stories we retell EVERY year when we are driven into hysteria…how one Thanksgiving after the meal, we circled the chairs in the living room so that 31 of us could play the game..gossip, and someone got out the big bag of potato chips to pass around, all focused on the start of the game…and the 1st one to reach in pulled out Aunt Ebbie’s underpants! Sometimes, for tears in the eyes, words cannot describe the moment….

And the recipes! How I love that….and the Polish recipes take me home to my grandma Babcia. So many tried and helpful hints, so many excellent desserts we share…..

The dogs and cats…a lifeline to my heart. I cry with you when you agonize over the rainbow bridge. I am thrilled with the new family fur member… Your house remodels have my attention….methinks I need to do my room JUST like yours…. the new car is awesome….and he proposed! ! !

And I can share my Blogs…..So many wonderful things about this thing we call Facebook that we can enjoy if we choose to focus on the good, the silly and the lovely.
